Pound of Cure App Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026
Digital Bariatrics, LLC operates the Pound of Cure app. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the app and its services. Reading this policy or using the app does not give us permission to share your information with AI providers. We ask for that permission separately in the app.
Information we collect and how we collect it
- Account information you provide when signing up or editing your profile, such as your name and email address, and your account identifier.
- Information you enter, upload, or discuss: chat messages, meal descriptions and food photos, weight and exercise logs, medications, health and surgical history, goals, preferences, and plans.
- Care information supplied by connected care services, such as appointment details, visit notes, and visit transcripts, when those services are connected to your account.
- Subscription and transaction information from our payment services. Payment providers process payment credentials.
- Technical information generated while using the app, including device and notification identifiers, app interactions, crash reports, and performance diagnostics.
- Your privacy choices, including the version of the AI disclosure you accepted or declined and when you made that choice.
How we use information
We use information to operate your account, save your records, provide educational content and care services, manage appointments and subscriptions, send requested reminders and service communications, respond to support requests, protect the service, and diagnose errors. With your separate AI permission, we also use the information described below to provide personalized AI responses and evaluate and improve the quality of the app's AI features. We do not sell your personal or health information.
Optional AI features: what is shared and with whom
Sage chat, AI food logging and photo analysis, personalized plans, coaching, and AI summaries use third-party AI services. Before these services process your information, the app displays the data categories and providers and asks you to choose whether to allow AI data sharing. Depending on the feature, relevant information may include your messages and conversation history; meal descriptions and food photos; your name and profile details; health, weight, medication, surgery, exercise, and nutrition history; goals and plans; and visit notes or transcripts received from connected care services.
- Anthropic (Claude) processes text and relevant personal and health context to answer questions, interpret food entries, create or update plans, provide coaching, summarize your history, prepare summaries for your healthcare provider before consultations, and extract information from connected visit notes and transcripts. Those notes and transcripts may also be processed to evaluate the quality of the app's AI responses. See Anthropic's privacy policy and data processing terms.
- Google (Gemini) processes food photos and associated instructions to identify foods and support meal logging. See Google's privacy policy and Gemini API data-use terms.
- OpenAI processes search text and health-related text extracted for your personalized knowledge record to create numerical representations called embeddings. These help retrieve relevant information for AI responses. See OpenAI's privacy policy and data processing terms.
Processing takes place on these providers' servers, rather than solely on your device. We send information relevant to the requested feature and its personalization; a provider does not need every category for every request. Information you include in free text or photos may also be sent, so avoid including details you do not want processed. AI responses can be inaccurate and do not replace care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Your AI choice and withdrawal of permission
Choose Continue Without AI to decline. You can still use non-AI features, including educational content, scheduling, and manual record tracking. AI features remain unavailable until you explicitly allow sharing. Existing users must also make this choice; an account or subscription is not AI consent.
You can review the disclosure or turn off AI data sharing in Profile → Settings → AI & Privacy. Turning it off stops new AI processing of your information, including queued background personalization work. It cannot recall information already sent to a provider or cancel processing that has already begun. It does not delete your existing records or change your subscription. We ask again before enabling sharing under a new disclosure version.
Other service providers and safeguards
We use service providers for hosting and databases (Google Cloud, Supabase, and Neo4j), video visits (Daily), payments (Stripe and applicable app stores), notifications, and error reporting (Sentry). They receive information needed to deliver their services. Information may also be shared with your care team to provide the care services you use, or when required by law.
We require third parties that process personal information on our behalf, including AI providers, to provide the same or an equal level of protection as described in this policy. This includes appropriate confidentiality, security, limited-purpose processing, and applicable data protection obligations. Provider-specific processing and retention terms are linked above. We use access controls and encryption to protect information; no service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention, access, and deletion
We retain information as needed to provide the services you use, maintain your records, resolve issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Service providers may retain information under their applicable processing terms. Turning off AI does not automatically delete information previously processed.
You can review or correct records in the app and request access, correction, or deletion through in-app support or by emailing support@gololi.ai. Account deletion is also available from your profile. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or transaction requirements.
Policy updates and contact
We update the date above when this policy changes. Material changes to AI sharing require a new in-app choice before the affected AI processing is enabled. For privacy questions, contact Digital Bariatrics, LLC at support@gololi.ai.
